Call for Papers

short abstracts of 300 words excluding references can be submitted until the 10 april.

Submissions should include: Submission type, Title, Name, Affiliation and Abstract (300 words) - please indicate if your submission is a virtual presentation.


Accepted abstracts will be invited for submission of an extended abstract to be included in peer-reviewed conference proceedings.

Submission Types

Association for Visual Pedagogies 2017 accepts the following types of submissions

COMPLETED OR WORK IN PROGRESS RESEARCH:

​In any of the topic areas listed above, or related areas. The abstract for completed or proposed research should include the research objectives, (proposed) methodology, and a discussion of (expected) outcomes.

CASE STUDIES:

Case studies in any of the topic areas listed above, or related areas. The abstract for case studies should include the research objectives, case presentation, case management/outcome and a discussion.

PROPOSALS FOR FUTURE RESEARCH:

We invite proposals of ideas for future research to generate discussion and receive feedback in any of the video related areas. The abstract for work-in-progress or future research should include the research vexations, proposed future directions and research scenarios.

TECHNICAL REPORTS ON ISSUES RELATED TO THE CONFERENCE TOPICS:

Reports related to innovative techniques or technical issues related to any of the topic areas listed below or related areas. The abstract for reports should include project objectives, methodology, and a discussion.

WORKSHOP PROPOSALS:

We invite a limited number of workshops that should fall within the scope of the conference. Proposals should include what topics of interest will be covered by the workshop, reasons for the timeliness of the topic, who the anticipated audience could be.

Authors of accepted abstracts will be invited to submit extended abstracts (see proceedings).

Deadline for initial abstract submissions: March 1st 2017 - NEW SUBMISSION DEADLINE 10 APRIL 2017

Deadline for extended abstract proceedings submissions: 30th May 2017
 

Submissions received after this date will NOT be published, but only the title of the presentation as outlined in the conference programme.

PRESENTATIONS

You can attend this conference in person or virtually. The following presentation formats will be possible at the conference:

  • Oral presentation (IN person)

15 min of oral presentation of your paper/ research on site and 15 minutes discussion time to share and receive first hand remarks and comments from the audience. Encourage a live discussion regarding the presented topic and network with other researchers and academics in the field of education and related areas, from around the globe. Presentations are encouraged that show/share visual examples.​

  • Video presentation and blended environment roundtable discussion (virtual presence) 

Registered presenters who are not able to attend the conference in person may opt for this presenting format. Presenters will be asked to submit prior to the conference a video presentation of up to 15 minutes. Roundtable response participants will watch your recorded presentation prior to the conference. During conference time we will facilitate a roundtable discussion blending your virtual participation with the on-site roundtable participants. Videos will be uploaded in a secure server open to conference participants, allowing also online feedback.

  • Workshops (in person)

Propose a workshop to share and discuss tools/applications relevant to visual/video research – presenters need to submit an abstract describing Aim/Objectives, detailing what the audience can expect to learn. Workshop sessions will be allocated 1 hour – presenters may propose up to 2 sessions.

CONFERENCE PROCEEDINGS

We invite all participants to submit extended abstracts, which will be peer-reviewed and published through the series Undervisning og Læring (Note for Danish participants: generates BFI points).

In order to have your abstract published in the official conference proceedings, your submission should have been previously approved and registration arrangements completed.

All accepted abstracts will be published in the conference abstract book with ISBN.

We will submit the proceedings that include short and extended abstracts to Thomson Reuters, SCOPUS, Mendeley, Google scholar and CiteULike for possible Indexing.

Participants who have completed registration arrangements and wish their invited extended abstract published in the official conference proceedings publication must submit their extended abstract by May 30th 2017. Proceedings submissions should be sent by E-mail as MS Word attachment to the following email:

JOURNAL PUBLICATION FOR EXTENDED ABSTRACTS

Accepted abstracts will further be invited to submit full papers to the The Video Journal of Education and Pedagogy and/or The Journal of Communication and Culture. Authors will be contacted individually after the peer-review.

Extended abstracts – maximum 6 pages in total including references.

Extended abstracts will be also reviewed (double-blind) for possible publications in following journals as special issues. Authors will be contacted when decisions have been made and receive details regarding the journal requirements and recommendations of the special issue editors.
